(The numbers '1' and '2' are from a right-hander's point of view - with apologies to Cowboy and other southpaws.)

Blade steel: 440 stainless

Scales: Heavy black horn - (1/8" thick)

Operating mechanism: 'Reverse' Leverlocks (Mikov style)

Well I've had this one for about 3 weeks now and I'm really happy with it, so I decided it was time to post a little info about it, because I AM impressed!

This is one fine knife, even tho it's a Mikov 'clone'. I paid $42.95 for it, but the shipping really brought that up. (More on that later).

Even tho I searched the Mikov site, I haven't seen a 2-blade like this one offered. This is a carbon copy of a Mikov single-blade knife I HAVE seen there, with a second blade added. (The single blade Mikov runs about $70 plus shipping.)

THE GOOD: This is one sweet knife. It comes with 2 blades, both auto, both fast and (once sharpened) both sharp.

The heavy black horn scales came without a mark on them and are real beauties. Add to that the heavy nickel-silver bolsters and you have a 'heavy-duty' knife that looks good and feels good in your hand.

The Mikov-style 'reverse leverlocks' are a good design. There's a slight groove in the scales beneath the lever, making it easy to slide your thumb (or finger on the second blade) under it to flip it up. Push forward and it deploys fast and hard and locks up tight.

The backsprings, bolsters and scales match up so well that it almost looks like the whole thing was made of one solid piece. This is a massive knife, and that might not always be a 'plus', depending on what you like to carry.

THE BAD: I have had some problems getting the second blade to lock solid every time (lays out flat, but not solidly locked) when using my index finger, but since that blade locks EVERY time when deployed by your left thumb, I think it's just a matter of getting used to using a finger on the lever rather than a thumb.

I also found some side-to-side bladeplay on both blades, but very little. I've seen a lot worse on a lot more expensive knives.

This knife comes to you sharp enough to cut hot butter (maybe) and it takes a LOT of sharpening to get the blades 'paper-cutting' sharp. Once sharpened tho, they seem to stay that way through a lot of use.

THE UGLY: The only thing 'ugly' about this baby is the cost of the shipping! I had to pay $27 (more than half the cost of the knife) to get it here from Austria, and I was NOT happy with that. I have to admit that it arrived in about 5 days with no problems, and in good condition, but that's a helluva lot of 'shipping'. Still, if you buys a Mikov from the Czech Republic, you're still going to have to pay shipping and also a lot more for the knife.

In short, this one is a real honey, and a good addition to anyone's collection, as well as being a good, heavy 'user' or EDC. "Knifeshop.com" did me right on this one and I'd recommend it to others.

I agree with picker's review.I got my dualspeed today and I'am very happy with it.Mine has only 1 blade that has side to side play but it is very little and i can live with it.The shipping cost is the worst thing about this knife other than that A-OK. Wink

Thanks, Chris. You always do a bang-up job on 'em yourself, but maybe when I acquire something new that you haven't tested yet, I can add a little info on it to help others make informed deisions about what's worth buying. I hope others will feel free to post reviews as well... Very Happy
