No pictures this time. But I'll get on it very soon (as soon as I find my camera ) I just got a little package today with my favorite Mailing address on it (BP). Inside it was a bolstermatic that Cam sells here on BladePlay. Just a quick rundown of it... The fit and finish is right on with the Predator. In fact, they loook like they are cousins. They both share the same bayonet styled blade with a nail nic (though the bolstermatic is a good bit beefier) and share the identical pocket clip, and pivot screw. As with the Predator, the Bolstermatic has a black coated cast aluminum handle and should hold up just as well. The size of this knife is comparable to the Magnum, in fact, the blade actually tops the magnum's by 1/4". It has roughly the same blade thickness as the Magnum.
It has a unique firing mechanism in which half the handle pivots to realse the blade. It could be argued that it is not a switch blade due to the fact that it does not have a firing button or lever There is no safety on this knife... nor does their need to be. You have about a snowball's chance in hell that you will accidentally fire this thing.
This knife actually incorporates two springs. A small leaf spring is used for the bolster firing mechanism and a coil spring is used for the blade pivot. I will get more into that when I get some pics of it. It's a little too difficult to explain it without pics to back me up. The entire knife is contructed with 4 allen screws (2 for the pocket clip, 1 for the blade pivot, and 1 at the base of the handle) and 1 pin that the locking mechanism rides on. Anyway, I'll be sure to give you all more details later...with pics _________________ "Who's the more foolish: the fool or the fool who follows him?." |

ceo -
I had one when One Stop Knife Shop sold'em under their
"bargain automatics" years ago, this newer one's lighter
and a little easier on the hand to open. Take's a
better edge as well ( I wonder if it's 154CM and they didn't
put it on the blade? ) It's also a good "trick knife" -
like the Spyderco Meerkat, good luck to anyone who's not
"in the know" as to the opening.
Worth it's price. Cam'll sell alot more I think.

Well, this one was driving me nuts (short trip ) for a coupla days. I found the backstrap release right away, but holding the darn thing with 2 hands while depressing the backspring and trying to keep your fingers outa the way, is a pain in the butt.
Kept wondering - why the elongated screw hole on the rear screw??? I even tried removing one of the two pocket clip screws to see if pivoting the pocket clip would release it. See? I'm innovative..
I might still be tearing my hair trying to figure this one out - and I don't have that much left...
Thank's CEO....
This one oughta be worth a buck or two at the garage sale...

Picker,
What's the matter Dude, the Bolstermatic got you down. I received mine today and I'm not having a minutes trouble opening it (one arthritis handed at that). It was a little stiff at first, but a little tweaking of the screws took care of that. It doesn't fire as fast as my G-Force, but it does pretty good considering the mass of the blade and type of spring. I really like it! _________________ "If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it." |
