"One or two posts applauding a joke are fine, it's when I have to go through half a page to get to where the discussion gets back on track that I get irritated, if it even gets back on track at all "
Thanks, Bunnie - you just made our whole point - and perhaps clearer than I did. As you said, one or two jokes aren't a problem, no matter where they're posted - but I just moved THREE PAGES of blow-job jokes tacked onto the back of a thread in 'Bladetalk' having to do with that 10K Latama. I don't have a problem with all those BJ jokes and neither does Shari - but they DON'T belong in a thread where someone 'off the street' might come in and want INFO about the Latama.
Like you - and several others - I get sick and tired of going through pages and pages of or ROFALMO five times, etc, etc.
We all like to have fun here - that's why Shari and I stayed here a year ago when I first started buying from Cam - but too much of anything is boring to anyone with any intelligence. It's almost like being in a chatroom, where people do those LOL's all the time - the big difference is that here it takes up pages and pages...
As you said, there are a lot of good topics here - even the joke topics - but at times it takes us several hours to go through the whole site - and as a Mod, I believe part of my responsibility is to read EVERY POST!! So you can imagine how much time I spend here going through 'ROFLMAO's".
By the way - I have had three PM's so far from other BP members. All of them were supportive, so we must be doing something right.
Shari and I are just trying to straighten things up a little because we want Cam's business to succeed as well as everyone having a good time on the forum. Sometimes people lose sight of what BP is ultimately about - Cam's business.
Thanks, Bunnie

Picker and Shari - ROFMAO==LNMOLMNO or something. Carry on, M'Lady & M'Lord. What you are trying to do, I am behind you 100%.
Seriously, yeah, thanks for the effort, keep up the good work.
It takes me forever just to go back and keep up with all the threads. But at the same time, it must take you longer. You guys are the best! Now let me get out my tiny violin. . . . .
Thanks, sincerely, thanks!

I'm glad the group of you mods do a good job too, and if I have said anything to offend anyone, I take this time to appologize to all.
Best regards, Greg. _________________ ....I'm sorry my karma hit your dogma.... |

Thanks, Butch! I'd rather say it and not really need to, instead of needing to and NOT doing it!
I like everybody here too much!

As I said in my PM to ya, Greg, you have NOT offended anyone. We all like to have fun - we just think that getting way off topic for pages and pages in places like Bladetalk is more tiring, boring and a PITA when all you want to read is something about a LL or whatever.
And I still don't know what Cowboy's pissed about - maybe he's just havin' a bad hare day..lol
So far we have had 5 PM that are in total agreement with us on this issue - including one from another Mod - and one PM that's about '50-50' and ended 'keep up the good work'. Want to thank all of you for your support.
All I'm saying is, 'if you want to talk about knives, go to Bladetalk - if you want a BJ you have to go to Off Topic..

If he's having a bad hare day, I had nuthin' to do with it!
And now I'm in the mood for a BJ, (or maybe it was a PBJ I wanted) so I'm off to Off Topic. (or maybe the kitchen) _________________ I learned everything I need to know by killing smart people and eating their brains |

Well, Bunnie, BP is kinda like 'Alice's Restaurant' (remember Alice's??) You can get anything you want... within linits, of course... you just have to know where to go. And as you have seen, I'm the onw who'll tell you 'where to go'...
Geez, here I am doing it!! Call the OT cop!
Back on topic - the person who originally started the thread on Bladetalk about the Latama that degenerated so quickly into BS just contacted me. He said, 'I tried three times to get people back to talking about the knife again and finally gave up and stopped posting to the thread. I think what you and Shari are saying is right on'. Well, the votes keep coming in and I'm beginning to feel like G. Bush...

Hmmm- very interesting. I'm not going to lie- there are many threads which I may have responded to but have not been able to get through because the topic wanders around so much I have no clue what's going on. That's why I only have 500 or so posts... But seriously folks,
I do agree that we need to keep things more on topic. If a thread makes you feel like blurtning out some bizarre anecdote do it in the "off topic" section and post a lnk to the thread that inspired you.
But I also see that difficulty of being impartial. We need to do our best to see that all "off topic" posts are treated with the same toleranace or intolerance. It won't be perfect- we're human- so if there are screw ups let's apologize, move on and try again. I don't see what can be added to this thread so I'm locking it. If anyone want to continue the discussion on off topic posts you can do it in the off topic forum.
-Cam
