Awright, let's here your choice & why
I can go with just about all three, serrated edge is a good slasher/ripper.
combo edge is the best of both worlds( part plain, part serrated )
And plain edge is the old standby.

| Well I like a combo for EDC for all it's uses, but my fav is straight edge, I think they look much cleaner, cooler looking and my fav knives are italians and combo edge just don't fit with those..LOL------------Dave |

yea - semiserated for work -- toplock or magnum -- straight blade for everything else. the only thing fully serated that i own is a hand saw. _________________ every day above ground - is a good day. |

| I've always liked the looks of the plain edge. When I got my Kershaws with the part serrated edge I must say I was impressed. On the other hand my Boker Top Lock with PS is the dullest knife out of the box I have ever seen. I wish I had gotten the straight edge on that one. |

My preference is the combo edge. Sometimes you need to cut through something that's just going to dull your plain edge and the serrations are handy for that. Course serrations won't always do the job, so the plain ege is great to have on hand. Kind of like bifocals- works for everything.
I have a couple of Ultrtechs and these are the one knife I do not like serrations on. I think it's because of the narrow blade though- serrations take out too much of the blade for my tatse- purely asthetic.

I prefer a straight edge. My edc is a pirahna with a combo edge. In my opinion, a sharp straight edge will always out perform a serrated. As much as I love my piranha... I find that the combo edge hinders me with most cutting tasks... not to mention, they are damn near impossible to sharpen and there is a better chance of breaking one of the serrated teeth off (i've done it to a spyderco). If I need to saw off tree limbs, I'll go get a saw Serrated blades do have advantages... but not as an edc. They're more for ripping than cutting. _________________ "Who's the more foolish: the fool or the fool who follows him?." |

I agree with Cam and Tripz that the combo edge are good carriers because the serrated portion works better for some applications than a striaght blade. However, I'd never carry a fully serrated blade. Only have one in my collection and it's going to be for sale soon.

I'd rather have a razor sharp straight edge than a dull serrated. I HATE SHARPENING THEM!!!! other than that, they're great. _________________ "Who's the more foolish: the fool or the fool who follows him?." |

I will agree with U there... even with the Lansky sharpening set U have to buy a special stone just for serrated - and it IS a PITA to use...
